VJ was 10 when he first came to the Mission. His dad brought him in to play the piano. He had no idea he'd be returning years later as a client.

The next several years went well. VJ worked for the family company for 23 years–until his sister fired him!

Drugs and alcohol took him low, then brought him to the Mission.

"I really didn't care if I went to jail."

Facing up to three years in prison for driving under the influence, VJ was "strongly urged" by the court to get help. Problem was, he really didn't want to change; he fought it "all the way."

Help Turn Hunger Into Hope

With your help, here at Wheeler Mission, our community’s neediest men, women and children can find not only hot meals but spiritual food that can help them begin new lives.

During the Easter season, we will turn hunger into hope by serving more than 24,038 meals, including 350 at our special Easter Dinner on April 24.
