LA Summer School Cancelled!
An urgent message from David Walker

The sudden cancellation of summer school by the LA Unified School District will impact more than 225,000 students and their families!
 
Already, our local Clubs are being flooded with calls from worried parents who desperately need a safe, secure place for their children to go.
 
Many are low-income families who have no alternatives – nowhere else to turn.  "Kids will see things on the streets they shouldn't," said one parent.  "I don’t want my kids hanging out with the wrong kids and groups." 
 
At some Clubs, we have more kids wanting to join than our staff can handle.  We have to hire more staff and find more low-cost activities away from the Clubhouses, as they are getting too busy!
 
We will take in just as many children as we can, but we desperately need your help.
 
At the Clubs, we never turn away kids because they cannot afford the actual costs of summer programs and activities.  Your secure online gift of $25 or $50 will help support the summer scholarships at one of our 140 plus sites in LA County. 
 
Please get back to me just as soon as you possibly can to let me know how much you can help to provide a summer filled with supervised activities for our low-income families.
